State officials responding to dangerous intersection

Concerns about crashes at the intersection of Rt. 18 and West Road in Wellington Township are being addressed by the state, but there won’t be a traffic signal or blinking lights installed there.

In July, township resident Jim Barbor sent a letter to Ken Carney, the Lorain County engineer, addressing concerns he had about the intersection.

Barbor said high grass and weeds at the intersection impairs visibility of drivers crossing the intersection. He also felt there needed to be more warning of the dangerous intersection while traveling either direction on West Road.
