Chester Paul “Chet” Byrley

Chester Paul “Chet” Byr­ley, 63, a res­i­dent of Welling­ton, died Tues­day, Feb. 7, 2012 at the Louis Stokes Vet­er­ans Med­ical Cen­ter in Cleve­land fol­low­ing a lengthy illness.

Chet was born July 6, 1948 in Rich­mond, Ind. He was raised in South Amherst and grad­u­ated from South Amherst High School in the class of 1967. Dur­ing his years of employ­ment, he moved sev­eral times through­out Ohio. Chet had made his home in Welling­ton for the last seven years.

Chet proudly served in the United States Air Force dur­ing the Viet­nam War. He was a mem­ber of the Church of the Open Door in Elyria. Chet had a per­sonal rela­tion­ship with the Lord and loved shar­ing the gospel mes­sage. He loved fam­ily gath­er­ings around the camp­fire, and attend­ing fam­ily sport­ing events. His great­est joy was his family.

Chet leaves to cher­ish his mem­ory his lov­ing wife of 35 years Linda Ruth Byr­ley (nee Rein­hold); son Chester Bryan Byr­ley of Michi­gan; daugh­ter Ali­cia Lynn Run­dell of Ohio; six grand­chil­dren; par­ents Chester and Geor­gia Ruth Byr­ley (nee Chaney) of Indi­ana; brother Ronald Duane Byr­ley of Ohio; sis­ter Wanda Ber­net­tie of Ken­tucky; brothers-in-law Howard (Linda) Rein­hold and Rudolph Rein­hold Sr. and sister-in-law Rita (Buford) Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Fri­day, Feb. 10, 2012 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleve­land Ave., Amherst. Funeral ser­vices will be held Sat­ur­day, Feb. 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Howard Rein­hold, his brother-in-law, will offi­ci­ate. Bur­ial will be at West­wood Ceme­tery, Ober­lin. Hon­ors will be pro­vided by the Elyria Vet­er­ans Mil­i­tary Honor Guard.
