Chester Paul “Chet” Byrley
Chester Paul “Chet” Byrley, 63, a resident of Wellington, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at the Louis Stokes Veterans Medical Center in Cleveland following a lengthy illness.
Chet was born July 6, 1948 in Richmond, Ind. He was raised in South Amherst and graduated from South Amherst High School in the class of 1967. During his years of employment, he moved several times throughout Ohio. Chet had made his home in Wellington for the last seven years.
Chet proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Elyria. Chet had a personal relationship with the Lord and loved sharing the gospel message. He loved family gatherings around the campfire, and attending family sporting events. His greatest joy was his family.
Chet leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 35 years Linda Ruth Byrley (nee Reinhold); son Chester Bryan Byrley of Michigan; daughter Alicia Lynn Rundell of Ohio; six grandchildren; parents Chester and Georgia Ruth Byrley (nee Chaney) of Indiana; brother Ronald Duane Byrley of Ohio; sister Wanda Bernettie of Kentucky; brothers-in-law Howard (Linda) Reinhold and Rudolph Reinhold Sr. and sister-in-law Rita (Buford) Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Howard Reinhold, his brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin. Honors will be provided by the Elyria Veterans Military Honor Guard.
